Appreciating Assets
A friend of mine has a Ferrari. It is a beautiful machine and his pride and joy. He keeps it in his secured garage and, if the sun is shining and he is in the mood, he will take it out for a spin to enjoy it. It is a wonderful car full of history and envied by many who see it.
Unlike his run around, it appreciates in value. Indeed, I think it may now be more valuable than his house.
Like my friend’s Ferrari, the best assets in business also appreciate. There are very few Business assets that can appreciate in value like a workforce can. One of the best ways to increase their value is through training and effective management. A well-motivated workforce all pulling in the same direction with a clarity about what the company is trying to achieve, has appreciated in value when compared with the workforce which doesn’t understand the corporate vision. See my earlier blog on ‘Personal Value and Strategy’ for an indication of how we achieved this at Carlsberg.
Has your company clearly communicated what it is trying to achieve and by when? Do your Teams understand their role in achieving those goals?
Call me if you need help with some of these challenges. It’s what I do for my clients.
